Sermorelin questions

A few loose ends: hormone names, formulations and the questions that tend to get bundled into a broad claim about feeling younger.

Does sermorelin raise IGF-1?

Yes, in the older-men study. Stimulation of GH release increased IGF-1, which is produced mainly by the liver in response to GH. At the higher study amount, the older men’s GH/IGF-1 measures no longer differed from younger men’s. The trial’s health implications still require outcomes beyond blood measurements.

Does sermorelin affect testosterone?

The evidence here leaves a meaningful, lasting testosterone increase unestablished. An acute childhood intravenous study found small short-term changes in LH and FSH, hormones involved in reproductive function. Credit for raising testosterone would, for me, require a measured testosterone outcome.

Has sermorelin been studied in women?

The 16-week study in older women and men used the modified [Nle27]GHRH analogue. Hormone responses increased similarly in both sexes, with no change in blood pressure or body weight. That population detail helps identify the experiment; it leaves suitability for an individual woman requiring clinical assessment.

Does sermorelin improve sleep?

People report more restful sleep and vivid dreams, along with grogginess or little benefit. Those are anecdotal accounts, not clinical evidence. The nightly native GHRH(1-29) study examined hormone output in healthy elderly men. I separate that measured question from the experience of waking rested. The effects page gives the accounts more room.

What about tablets or lozenges?

The principal treatment studies used subcutaneous injections. The native peptide route study found only 3-5% intranasal bioavailability, while oral and under-the-tongue preparations face their own absorption questions. These injection findings cannot establish a tablet’s or lozenge’s effectiveness. The dosage page explains routes and preparation-specific units.

Is sermorelin FDA-approved?

The former product had FDA approval for childhood growth hormone deficiency and diagnostic use; U.S. sales ended in 2008 for commercial reasons. The review after its discontinuation describes the loss of a commercially available GHRH agent. Current patient-specific compounding falls under FDA’s interim Section 503A policy. Compounded sermorelin has no FDA approval.

How soon do study results appear?

The acute intravenous experiment measured elevated GH for roughly three hours. The older-men study measured hormone changes over 14 days, while the childhood efficacy study assessed growth over the first treatment year. These are distinct outcomes. None supplies a timetable for a personal sleep, muscle or energy benefit.
